A selection of Runners’ Emails following the previous Races:
Round the Island:
- “Just like to say, It’s one of the most interesting, enjoyable races with great scenery that I have been involved in years – Will definitely be back next year (injury free!)”
- “Cor blimey that was a race and a half!!”
- “Well done for surviving the downpour at the end and still calling us all in over the line, and a big thanks as ever to all marshals, I do love this race and how well it’s organised.”
- “I was very pleased with my time given the mudfest of the wall and the evil brick wall wind on the beach section! One thing for next year promotion of the event is that the downpour towards the end has acted like the best cold bath ever and I’ve no aches today! Who says the British summer is all bad!”
- “This is my 4th running of round the island and man what a challenge today. Last year it was the heat that took it out of us, this year the “fluffy” wind and rain whipped sand meant a sinky and slow start and then a mud fest over the first section of the sea wall.. time was caught up on the mid section of the wall with a helping back wind and then BAM! Like running into Mike Tyson the last four miles were simply torture, fluffy sand again and head wind was just unbearable and to top it all a major downpour for my last mile and a half, soggy sis and nephew shouting me in and running up the last stretch with me – where I realised I bagged 10mins off last years time – wohoooo! (Well by my garmin anyhow!) – top event – hated the last part but loved pushing myself hard.”
- “Just a quick e-mail to say thanks to you and all those involved in the running of the event yesterday. Myself and the other runners from the MCTC thought everything was extremely well organised and everyone we met had a smile on their face (before the run anyway!). I will be entering again next time around which is the finest compliment I can pay to you and everyone else involved.”
- “Wow, 12.2 mile of beach, 3 feet long wet grass and loads of mud! a great fun race! I It’s the third time I’ve run the race and I have only good words for the event. I don’t think there is much more you can do to improve things, my fellow club mates were buzzing after the race, they loved the event and challenge of the course.”
- “Friendly family feel to the race. Good mix of local club runners and first timers (my first trail run). Challenging course, mainly flat along the top of the mud flats and grass banks of the seawalls that surround the Island. Beach sections (into wind!) hard going but very rewarding when finished!”
5 and 10 Mile Race:
- “I just wanted to feedback that I enjoyed the race on Sunday and found it well organised. The marshals in particular did a fantastic job of managing the traffic particularly at some of the busier junctions.”
- “Just wanted to say a big thank you for a great race! My husband and I really enjoyed it and was very well organized. We hope to do it next year too!”
- “Just to say thanks again for a great race, my third year in a row and still very well organised and friendly.”
